While watching “The Glen Beck Show” (CNN) I heard a brief report about “Fox Faith.” At first I thought it was a parody, but nope, Glen was telling the truth. Fox has decided to jump in on the growing market of moral family films. Here is their reasoning.
“FoxFaith … films you can believe in. FoxFaith is a brand new film distribution label from Twentieth Century Fox, created to house and distribute its growing portfolio of moral-driven, family-friendly program. To be a part of Fox Faith, a movie has to have overt Christian Content or be derived from the work of a Christian author. ”
On their site navigation bar they list … “foxfaith” … “family” … “kids” … “church” … movies that are suitable for such audiences. I suppose I should be glad to think that Fox or any other major studio/television entity is vying for Christian produced films. Now I am not trying to the cynic but am I to believe that is Fox really concerned about my faith being “overt” and in order [pun] to help create it they are offering to sell me overtly Christian life, family and church movies? Aren’t “foxes” those sneaking tricky sort of animals? Humm? Could there be something else just as overt with Fox … like making money? Doesn’t Jesus say something like … “you can’t go around serving God and money” … that is mixing the two for a sort of double profit? Though it is nice to have a place to buy good and deceit films, let’s face it … Fox is more interested in money than in faith. It is sort of like Madonna wearing a cross and everyone thinking she is a Christian. What’s next … FoxExtremistFaith movies?
Consider the words of Jesus.
Luke 9:58 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”
I don’t think Jesus is looking to lay His head on Fox and maybe we should be careful not to do the same. And though there is nothing wrong with buying Christian oriented films from a secular vendor, let’s just not get carried away thinking Fox is now on the side of the Kingdom of God. Keep it real and keep it in Jesus.
Peace & Glorify
